CONVICTION OF FORMER US PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP IMPICATIONS FOR 2024 POLLS

 

These are indeed interesting times in the United States of America (USA) where the tide is moving against the immediate past President of the United States Donald John Trump a renowned Real Estate Mogul, serial entrepreneur, TV Star…He shocked the political establishment in 2015 when he threw his hat to run for the US Presidency under the banner of the Republican party having never held a political office or contested in any election before 2015, he won the republican primaries by his popularity as a renowned TV Star with his famous show APPRENTICE which one of the largest TV reality program in the World.

He ran against then Former First Lady Hilary Clinton and defeated her in the 2016 elections, subsequently sworn in as President in 2017 where he promised to make the interest of America superior to any country on earth with his AMERICA FIRST SLOGAN, Trump implemented lots of controversial policies like pulling America out of the Paris Climate change agreement, Hostile Immigration programs that saw massive deportations, trade wars with China which saw the beginning of hostilities on a global scale, Many suspected that the conflict with China triggered the Corona Virus epidemic that consumed over 3 million lives globally which USA was a major casualty of the COVID-19 Pandemic that incident led to his approval ratings plummeting which led to his defeat as incumbent US President which he alleged without proof that current President Joe Biden rigged…

After several backs and forth Donald Trump as US President tried to influence the results in his favour which drew a backlash from several sections of the American society and the global community…The peak of that agitation was the January 6th, 2021 Storming of the US Capitol also referred to as the US Congress by an irate mob and supporters of Trump, that incident was the beginning of Donald Trump’s troubles with the American establishment which swore by all means to deal decisively with Trump.

The January 6th, 2021 incident no doubt brought enormous ridicule to the American democracy and its respect in the eyes of the global stage, the backlash by the American State was the institution of several court cases against Trump to punish him for the role in that January 6th saga, with his recent conviction by the New York Court when he is on the verge of being crowned by the Republican party as it’s Presidential Flagbearer, would no doubt stain the Republican Party and become a tool for a ferocious campaign of calumny by his opponents in the November 5th, 2024 general elections in USA.

As it stands the saving grace for the Republican party is to field the runner-up in the Primaries Nikky Haley a former Governor of South Carolina and Former US Ambassador to the United Nations as a replacement for Donald Trump because his campaign will be distracted by his recent conviction and several court cases that will make the Party a laughing stock in the USA and the entire global community, the reputational damage to the US will be too enormous to bear for a nation that prides its values as a bastion of democracy.
