MAKING A CASE FOR TRANSFORMATIONAL LEADERSHIP AHEAD OF ONDO 2024 GOVERNORSHIP ELECTIONS

As a commentator and indigene of Ondo State, I have lately begun for myself this conscious and deliberate interest in the affairs of this territory located in Southwestern Nigeria regarded as the sunshine State carved out of the defunct Western State on February 3, 1976..Today our State of Ondo is 47 years today consisting administratively of 18 Local Governments across the senatorial districts of North, Central, and South inhabited largely by a mix of ethnic stock such as Yorubas, Akokos, Ilajes, Arogbo Ijaw, Ikales scattered across the geographical enclave of the State.

I have observed from sub-national territories around the World like California, Gauteng province, and Guandong in China these places are becoming globally recognized territories for their functional infrastructure, quality of life, ease of doing business, and economic prosperity.

Today a 47-year-old Ondo State does not boast of any modern infrastructure like an International Airport, Seaports, modern superhighways, Rail facility connecting with other parts of Nigeria…Most residents of the State live in Abject poverty and deprivation to my chagrin 85% of Ondo residents live in largely rural areas in the age of rapid progress and civilization as the 21st century…In finding a solution to these myriads of Problems, I was inspired by the leadership feats of LEE KWAN YEW of Singapore, DAVID BEN-GURION of Isreal and MAHATHIR BIN MOHAMMED of Malaysia, this was informed the drive to initiate a RESCUE PLAN FOR ONDO STATE which will focus on delivering Modern infrastructure, Industrialisation of the State, Focus on implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals,urbanization of the State by deliberately building new cities across the entire state, developing human capital as major assets of the State, building institutions, driving a Knowledge Economy with emphasis on Innovation and Research, lastly providing quality and transformational leadership for the rapid development of the State.

Moving forward as we inch closer to the 2024 governorship elections, it is time to begin the search for competent, capacity, and visionary leadership in individuals who can deliver a progressive train for Ondo State, not aspirants who spend so much money on Billboards, posters, and Airwaves boasting of Deep pockets but those rich in Content such as character and capacity to deliver prosperity to the residents of Ondo State..

As for me, a Transformed State is possible and it is achieved if only we are WILLING TO WALK THE TALK.
