ACCESSING PRESIDENT BOLA AHMED TINUBU’S ONE YEAR IN OFFICE..

MINISTERS THAT HAVE PERFORMED POORLY AND SHOULD BE DISMISSED….

As time runs its course President Bola Tinubu will clock one year in office at the end of May 2024, in line with his renewed hope mantra he promised to reinvigorate governance for better delivery and optimum performance to the Nigerian populace in furtherance of that in August 2023 he sent a list of ministerial nominees totally 48 across the Nigerian federation, in all including Ministers of State to the National Assembly for clearance and subsequent confirmation..

The ministers were confirmed after screening by the federal lawmakers, after that the presidential retreat followed where the President informed the newly sworn-in ministers of a performance bond which they were made to undertake by signing a performance charter for the advancement administration, the President informed the new ministers that poor performance in the line of duty by his administration would not be condoned as he was ready to show the weakbeds in his government the exit door...It is known globally in any corporate setting of those considered to be dead woods or weaklings in any set-up, those referred to as underperforming individuals whose performance will be reviewed...It is expected that not all the ministers will perform to their utmost best, going by Nigeria’s recent history spanning 50 years of ministers or political appointees who “came to chop” making reference to former Minister of Interior and former Deputy Governor of Old Oyo State Sunday Afolabi of blessed memory which implies political appointees either as ministers or aides who came to share in the national cake as their reward for performance in preceding elections who have no objective of qualitative public service, since most Nigerians are complaining of hardship and slow rate of performance by the Tinubu’s Administration in the context of this article..the following Ministers have been identified as very incompetent in the discharge of their duties since assumption as Ministers of the federation..

Balarabe Lawal (Minister of Environment) is noted to be a close ally of former Kaduna State Governor Mallam Nasir El-Rufai who has a reputation for sterling performance in public office, having served as Chief of Staff when he El-Rufai held sway as FCT Minister from 2003-2007 subsequently serving as SSG when he was Governor of Kaduna State, Lawal was expected to have brought in numerous reforms as Minister of Environment his performance his assumption has been very abysmal, nothing significant has been achieved in the Ministry of Environment under his watch with the clamour for Climate Change and the greener planet on the cards Nigeria has not shown significant commitment to ensuring a better environment both locally and internationally most especially issuance of Green Bonds, climate financing opportunities and other initiatives to improve on our Environment..

Senator John Owan Enoh Minister of Sports: A former Lecturer and Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, he is expected to have brought wide-ranging reforms to the Ministry of Sports that will propel the sporting sector in Nigeria to enviable heights that have remained non-existent, looking at the vast array of talents that litter the entire Nigerian federation from Youth enabled competitions, attracting corporate sponsorship of events held in the sports circuit plus other groundbreaking initiatives have been lacking in huge proportions, sadly only the recent performance of Nigerian super eagles at the just concluded AFCON in Cote divore is the only shining light for now, the upcoming Olympics to be held in Paris France not much has been done in terms of preparations for the event..Past initiatives like TEAM NIGERIA TRUST FUND, Nigeria Sports Trust Fund initiative championed by former Athletics Superstar Mary Onyali not much has been done in the Sports sector that has much potential in developing the Nigerian Economy…In our recent assessment of Senator John Enoh’s performance, he deserves the dismissal by The president for poor performance thus far.

Mrs Lola Ade John Minister of Tourism: She is reputed to be a consummate professional in the private sector with a stellar pedigree to her belt, since she was appointed Minister of Tourism she has performed below expectation in her duty tour as tourism minister, the Nigerian Tourism sector remains a huge goldmine that has not yet been tapped looking at the various tourist endowments that are scattered across the Nigerian federation, tourism is the major economic driver for Nations like UAE, Kenya, South Africa, and even Rwanda that came out of a bloody genocide…Instead, Nigerians troop out to spend very exorbitant fees on travel and tours every year, with the level of ineptitude in the Ministry of Tourism under Mrs. Lola Ade-john is indeed unacceptable going by her Private sector background where innovation and productivity are driving forces.

Today Nigeria has no clear-cut roadmap for developing our Tourism sector, the whole ministry is simply a sleeping giant that needs resuscitation…

Abubakar Momoh Minister of Niger-Delta Affairs: Since the creation of the Ministry by Former President Umaru Musa Yar’adua, the Ministry of Niger-Delta has not really lived up to expectations in conjunction with the NDDC created in the year 2000 by the Olusegun Obasanjo Administration..The current Minster Abubakar Momoh a former Member of the federal House of Representatives has not really performed to the expectation of the Niger Delta communities, as more cases of civil unrest,pipe-line vandalism, ceaseless agitations by groups called from greater spread of development in the Niger-Delta Region…The recent commissioning of a power Sub-Station in the Southern senatorial district of Ondo State leaves a lot of sour grapes where Power has been totally absent in the last 15 years.

Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim and Adewale Ayoade of Ministry of Youth Development: This a pivotal ministry to the Nigerian economy where over 65%  of its populace is below 35 years, a lot was expected by the duo of 37 years Jamila Bio Ibrahim and 34 years old Adewale nothing significant has been heard from them in term of quality programs, policies, and initiatives that will improve the quality of the lives of the Youthful populace within the Nigerian Federation…The only news that came from the ministry was the plan by the Federal Government to invest N110B in the National Youth Investment Fund, Aside from that in the last 6 months nothing remarkable has been achieved by the Ministry in question..

Chief Uche Nnaji of Science and Technology: The Ministry of Science and Technology should be at the forefront of driving technological inventions and innovations that can propel Nigeria’s industrial development and growth, sadly most of the parastatals in the ministry have performed below expectations under Uche Nnaji’s watch, Nigeria has not recorded giant strides in advancing the course of new technological products and inventions that can solve societal problems like food production, crime prevention, industrial hardware plus other innovations considering the avalanche of talents spread across the Nigerian federation.

Dr. Joseph iyotzer of Water Resources Ministry: This educationist from Benue State has not recorded significant achievements since resumption as Minister of Water Resources, going by the fact that most rivers and water bodies are not adequately utilized for domestic water supply to the Nigerian populace...Most Nigerians cannot access quality potable water in their homes due to poor policy implementation from the Ministry of Water Resources under Dr. Iyotzer’s watch he has been too quiet for comfort since his assumption..He needs to be replaced with a more energetic and resourceful personality who can deliver the goods in line with the Sustainable Development Goals
