TOLULOPE AYOWUNMI EHUWA : STORY OF LAGOS BOY WHO WANTS ONDO STATE TRANSFORMED

 

Like the Proverbial child born with a silverspoon, destiny was thrown on his path with a mirror-like direction the desire for Nationbuilding and passion for national development, the Story of Lagos Born Tolulope Ayowunmi Ehuwa like the Current President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu describes himself as a Privileged City Boy raised and bred in the Country’s former Federal Capital and current commercial nerve center Lagos currently rated as the 5th largest economy on the African continent with a population of around 22 Million people...He argues that destiny has carved out a path out of his comfort zone for him, the enormous task of transforming his State of origin Ondo to another Singapore, Malaysia, UAE, and Taiwan through two critical factors namely HUMAN CAPITAL DEVELOPMENT and INFRASTRUCTURAL DEVELOPMENT which he cites as critical components of Economic development…

He laments that Ondo State since its creation in 1976 around 48 years ago from the defunct Western State, is relatively a Civil Service State that has not witnessed desirable economic development and still lacks behind despite its enormous resources and untapped potential as past and present governments have only paid lip service to the enormous potentials lying grossly underdeveloped, Tolulope personally believes in Ondo State having core world-class infrastructure like International Airport, Railways, and Seaports as a necessary launchpad that can trigger the development of State, he cites Rwanda and Ebonyi State as key examples worthy of emulation on the African continent.

In his words “We must develop the people with an intentional strategy focused on talent development in Sports, creative sector, enterprise, Agriculture, technology allowing our people with natural gifts and endowments blossomed to full actualization’’.

No doubt Ondo State is a large territory consisting of 18 Local Government Areas and 203 wards predominantly inhabited by ethnic groups like Yorubas, Akokos,ikales,ilajes, and arogbo ijaws, he says the sunshine state has to grapple with a huge development financing gap which he projects to be in the region of $25B in 10 years that must be invested in key sectors of the economy.

Tolulope Ayowunmi Ehuwa recently unveiled the ONDO DEVELOPMENTAL AGENDA (2020-2050) as the panacea to developing the state, he looks forward to working with institutions like the Verakki Business Solutions, PWC, Mazars, Tony Elumelu Foundation, GOTNI Center Abuja, African Leadership Academy, Africa Initiative of Governance/Aigboje Aig-Imokhuede Foundation as key partners in achieving his goal for development of the Sunshine State…The Public Service Training Institute at Ilara-Mokin will be fully upgraded and transformed into one of the best on the Continent.

Tolulope believes in emulating Rwanda

 as a perfect example of Development coming 30 years after a genocide that tore the fabric of the East African Nation apart, which today has become a reference point of excellence he cites notable feats such as Rwanda Development Board, Ugwugboza(Town Hall Meeting), Carnegie Mellon University campus in Rwanda, VisitRwanda merchandise and sponsorship packages with Arsenal FC and PSG of France..

Having lived, and worked in Abuja and Lagos two of Nigeria's Biggest cities, seeing that rare opportunity, has given him the required exposure and capacity to turn around the Sunshine's fortunes that have lagged in development for the last 48 years..
